CHRISTIAN DISCIPLINE ESSENTIAL TO MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING

The virtues of respect, discipline, overall wellness and attitude are dependent on the Christian Way of Life

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.

And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”(2 Corinthians 5:18-20)

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phillipians 4:13)

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

We should pledge our allegiance to our nation, but we never pledge anything above our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America,
And to the Republic for which it stands:
One Nation, Under God, Indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for All.

I Pledge Allegiance    I Promise to be faithful, loyal

to the flag    to what the Flag stands for and represents,

of the United States    to the 50 states, each individually represented on the flag,

of America      to all the states formed into a UNION of one Nation,

and to the Republic     to the Government  where the PEOPLE are sovereign,

for which it stands,    to the government represented by the Flag to which I promise loyalty,

one Nation under God,    to the 50 states united under the Divine providence of God,

Indivisible,     to the states that are united and can not be separated,

with Liberty    to the people having the freedom to pursue life, liberty, and happiness,

and Justice    to each person, as they entitled to be treated justly, and fairly according to the law of the land ,

for All.    to these laws afforded to EVERY AMERICAN, regardless of race, religion, color, creed, or any other criteria.

WE CAN NOT BE DIVIDED, WE ARE ONE NATION, UNDER GOD

SELF DEFENSE

The Bible does not address the martial arts, it does however refer to providing for and protecting your family, and many references of military type battles.

1 Timothy 5:8And if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

Exodus 22:2If a thief be found breaking in, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.”

Proverbs 25:26A righteous man who falters before the wicked is as a murky spring and a polluted well.”

Nehemiah 4:14And I looked and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, “Be not afraid of them: remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”

Luke 22:36, 38Then He (Jesus) said unto them (His disciples), “But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his bag (containing his money): and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. And they (the disciples) said, “Lord, behold here are two swords. And He (Jesus) said unto them, “It is enough.”

Exodus 21: 22-25  Gods words to Moses: ”If men fight, and hurt a pregnant woman, so that she gives birth prematurely, he shall surely be punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. If any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, an eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”

Self defense does not mean to kill; but to defend. Self defense in a physical manner is only to be implemented as a last resort; The sixth commandment says, “Thou shalt not kill,” (Exodus 20:13). The word “kill” used in the Bible is translated as “murder,” (Thou shalt not murder), From the scripture text above, we might conclude that this commandment demands that there be pre-meditation and motive before any act of self defense can be designated as murder.

Self-defense can actually be the result of love:

John 15:14 “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends”. When protecting one’s family or a friend in Christ, as Christians we are risking our lives, if need be, for the safety of others.

Ex. 12:4

And it came to pass, on that very same day, that the LORD brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt according to their armies.

Heb. 11:30-40

By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.  And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of  David and Samuel and the prophets:  who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,  quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.  Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.  Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented, of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. 39 And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

Matt. 5:8-13

Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”  The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that  You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”  When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!  And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.  But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”  Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.

Luke. 3:14

Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?”  So he said to them, “Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”

Luke. 22:36-38

Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.” So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION OF CHILDREN

THE LORD HAS GIVEN US TEMPORARY CUSTODY OF OUR CHILDREN, WE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO HIM, FOR THEM

GOD HAS DELEGATED THE AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY TO TEACH AND RAISE CHILDREN TO THE PARENTS:

Psalm 127:3-5 “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they shall not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gates.”

Gen. 33:5, 48:8-9; Isa.8:18; Heb. 2:13 “Children whom the Lord has given me”

Matt. 22:21 “Render to Caesar that which is Caesar’s, and unto God that which is God’s.” Our children are God’s. Training up of children was not delegated to the state or public schools.

CHILDREN ARE A GIFT OF STEWARDSHIP TO PARENTS, AND GOD GIVES US COMMANDMENTS FOR RAISING OUR CHILDREN AS PART OF OUR STEWARDSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Fathers have the greatest responsibility in training their children in the Lord and disciplining them. Are fathers “provoking” their children by sending them to public school?

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 also see Deuteronomy 4:9, 11:18-21 We are commanded to diligently teach our children God’s commandments and principles all the time. Sunday school is not enough; children in public school are taught to think as non-christians.

Psalm 78:1-11 Teach God’s principles to your children all the time so they will teach their children and so “that they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God.”

Exodus 13:8,14; Joshua 4:20-22,24 Teach children what God has done.

Proverbs 6:20-23 Children’s responsibility to obey parents’ teachings who in turn, should be teaching God’s principles

Psalm 1:1-2 Meditate on God’s law day and night.

Proverbs 23:7 “For as a man thinks, so is he” Children in public school are being taught to think like non-Christians.

2 Corinthians 10:5 …”take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ”.

Isaiah 54:13 “And all your children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of your children.”

John 21:15 “Feed My lambs” and “Feed My sheep”.

Jeremiah 10:12 “Thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of heathen nations.” That’s what our children are learning in the public schools.

Colossians 3:1-3 “Keep seeking the things above, where Christ is; set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on the earth.” The things above are God’s words recorded in Scripture. The Bible is the blueprint for all areas of life.

Matt. 16:23 Peter, thinking like a humanist, told Jesus he wouldn’t have to die. Jesus said, “Get behind me Satan! You are a stumbling block to me: for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”

Matt. 22:37 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and foremost commandment.” How can our children love God with their mind when public school trains their minds to ignore God?

Luke 6:40 “A pupil is not above his teacher but everyone after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher; a blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?” The public system appears to be spiritually blind and are leading the children astray.

Romans 12:2 “Be not conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Public schools conform our children to the pattern of this world.

Prov. 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” We need to train our children in God’s ways now so they will walk in righteousness as adults.

SOCIALIZATION OF CHILDREN:

Proverbs 13:20 “He who walks with wise men, will be wise but a companion of fools will suffer harm”

1 Corinthians 15:33 “Be not deceived; bad company corrupts good morals”

EDUCATION OF CHILDREN:

Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 1:7 “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge”

Proverbs 2:6, 9:10 “The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes understanding.”

Colossians 1:16-17, 2:3 All things created by Him and for Him, he holds all together.

James 1:5 “If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking.”

2 Timothy 3:15-17 “continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of ; and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

2 Tim. 2:15 “Study to show yourself approved to God, handling accurately the Word of truth.”

James 3:13-18 “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.  But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.  This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.  For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”

Psalm 119:97-101 The goal of education is to train children in God’s law so they can govern themselves, be wiser than their enemies, have more insight than their teachers, understand more than the aged.

Matthew 18:6 “Whoever harms one of these little ones who believe in Me, it would be better for Him that a millstone hung about his neck and he drowned in the sea”.

MARRIAGE WAS CREATED BY GOD

THE UNION OF ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN

Genesis 1:26-28 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

1 Corinthians 7:2-4 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

Genesis 19:1-11 Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground.  And he said, “Here now, my lords, please turn in to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way.” And they said, “No, but we will spend the night in the open square.” But he insisted strongly; so they turned in to him and entered his house. Then he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.  Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.” So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him, and said, “Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly! See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof.” And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.  But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door.

2 Peter 2:6-8  and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds.

Jude 1:7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.

Romans 1:27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD

"Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture." Psalm 100:3

Psalm 139:1-6

"O Lord,

"You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You
understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord,
You know it altogether.
You have
hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it."

Psalm 139:13-16

You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them."

Jeremiah 1:4-5

"The word of the Lord came to [Jeremiah], saying:
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you."
